life in miniature

One of the fun things about having a baby is all the tiny samples of things you get.  I like the ones that come as a miniature version of the full-size item, in proper scaled-down packaging like this tiny pot of Sudocrem that lives in our changing bag...
...and this tiny tube of Bepanthen bum cream.
Yesterday I received this tiny bottle of Cif (you'll always be Jif to me!) which left me particularly excited, even though it did come with a leaflet about household hygiene that suggested you use this to (among other things) wipe down the changing mat "before and after every change".  Seriously?!  We had eight (yes, eight!) dirty nappies yesterday, plus all the usual wet ones.  This bottle would have been used up by lunchtime!  This is where I discover that everybody else does disinfect the changing mat before and after every change and that I really am that bad a mother.  Ah well, you can't have it all and Dulcie's immune system is going to rock!

  1. I didn't disinfect the changing mat before or after changing nappies. I think I wiped it once a week unless there was an obvious mess!

    1. I pretty much just run a baby wipe over it when there's some leakage, which hasn't caused any problems so far. I do feel my kitchen should be cleaner though - I'm paranoid about Dulcie's food/cutlery touching any of the surfaces in there. Thank goodness for my new mini bottle of Cif!

  2. I always changed the babies on my lap and certainly never washed it before or after!! And I always used my little bottle of squirty disinfectant to wash cafe tables if we ate out. When the babies were big enough to eat food but not yet big enough to keep it all on their plate, gave me a little peace of mind, you never know what's on the damp cloth the staff rub over the table. I still have it in my handbag, I just efill it from the big one at home! Oh deasr, that does make me sound very sad indeed! Enjoy x

    1. Not sad at all. In fact, I am quite excited by your idea. And if I ever get hit by a bus and someone does a search of my bag, they'll know I'm a clean living kind of a girl when they find my handy bottle of Cif!

Hello! I'm sorry that I've had to turn on the word verification feature again, but my inbox was being flooded with very dull spam. Genuine comments always brighten my day though, so thank you for taking the time to leave one :)
